# Gmail and Outlook

> Connect Google for email and calendar, or Outlook for read-only email in Kato.

Manage your email accounts under **Settings → Email & Calendar**, on the
**Connected accounts** page. These personal connections have a different setup
path from the workspace integrations catalog.

| Provider | Available in Kato |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Google / Gmail | Email and calendar. Select the calendars you want to sync after connecting. |
| Microsoft Outlook | Read-only email from the time you connect. |

<Note>
Outlook requires configuration in your Kato environment. If **Connect Outlook
account** is marked **Unavailable**, contact support about availability.
Connecting Outlook does not enable sending email or calendar sync through Outlook.
</Note>

## Connect Google or Gmail

1. Select the intended Kato workspace and open **Settings → Email & Calendar**.
2. Select **Connect Google account**. If you already have one, select
   **Connect another Google account**.
3. Choose the Google account and review the requested permissions.
4. Complete authorization and return to Kato. Confirm the expected email address
   appears in Connected accounts.
5. Open the account to review its email and calendar settings.

To sync events, open the account’s **Calendars** tab and select the calendars
you need. Follow [Connect Google Calendar](/integrations/google-calendar) for
calendar selection, synchronization, and troubleshooting.

## Connect Outlook

1. Open **Settings → Email & Calendar**.
2. Select **Connect Outlook account**, or **Connect another Outlook account**.
3. Sign in to the intended Microsoft account and complete authorization.
4. Return to Kato and confirm the expected account appears.
5. Open Inbox and review email received after the connection was established.

Outlook is a read-only connection. Do not expect historical mail from before the
connection or the same email and calendar capabilities as a Google connection.

## Check the account and sync status

Start with the email address shown in Connected accounts. When an account needs
authorization again, use its reconnect control and authorize that same account.
Check the sync status and any retry information before starting another sync.

If a message is missing, confirm the provider, account, and relevant date. For
Outlook, check that the message arrived after the account was connected. For
Google Calendar, confirm the source calendar is enabled.

## Remove an account

Use the removal control for the account under **Email & Calendar** and read the
confirmation dialog.

* Removing a Google account stops its sync and removes its synced email,
calendar events, and signatures from Kato.
* Removing an Outlook account removes its imported Outlook messages from Kato.
* Removing either connection does not delete data from the Google or Microsoft account.

If you only need to renew authorization, use reconnect instead of removing the
account.
